You all remember Chaka Khan. She is a 2012 Scion iQ that I bought in 2014. She is still in perfect condition and I have no plans to retire her anytime soon. The thought of her being in the hands of a stranger is more than I can take.

She may need to be run through the carwash, but that is something we can do when the weather warms up, which hopefully will be happening very soon. Possibly even this weekend.
There is a small cargo area in the rear, behind the back seats. Yes, as hard as it my be to believe, there are two small seats in the back. Much too small for anyone other than a child, so I keep the seat backs lowered and use the space as a cargo area.
I wanted to protect the seat backs in that area, so I turned to WeatherTech. They did not have a cargo mat precisely molded to fit this area, but they did have this "Trim-To-Fit" option.
The mat was "generally" constructed to fit the area, with some additional coverage, if needed.

This was the mat right out of the box. We ended up with just the center part when all was said and done.
Initial placement in the cargo area clearly showed that all of the additional area outside of the core, molded part of the mat would be cut away.
You can see in all the pictures above that the mat was generously sized from the manufacturer so that it would cover the entire area. But we did not need all the extra coverage.
This is what we ended up with. A regular pair of household scissors was all that was needed to trim away the excess.
Above is the portion of the mat that was trimmed away so that we got the perfect fit. This was placed in the recycle bins in the hope that it will, indeed, be recycled and used to make another cargo mat for maybe your car.
Here we are with the mat in place. It fit the space perfectly. And Asher the Frog loves it back here.
I placed the insulated cooler back in place. Always good to keep a small cooler in the car. They are great to have around to store bottles of water or soda if you are taking a road trip. Also good to have when you run weekend errands during the summer and are bringing home freezer items.
So, that is my new cargo mat story. If you are looking for anything car related, I strongly recommend WeatherTech. Great quality products and affordable. This mat was $49.99 and then a little added on for tax and shipping, but still very reasonable. You can check out their website at
