Buttercup, Buttercup

I was in the car recently and I saw this beautiful field of Ranunculus, better known as Buttercups.


These are early spring blooming flowers, but can flower through the summer months when colonized as in the picture above.  Oddly enough, they are poisonous when eaten by cattle, horses and livestock. Thankfully their acrid taste and blistering of the tongue and mouth prevent consumption by these animals.

I think they are just beautiful in a natural setting, as above and I wanted to share this picture with you today.  I hope it brings you happiness.
