New Bottle Brush Set

The time had come for a new set of bottle brushes.  Like with anything, your bottle brushes need to be replaced every so often, just like you replace your dish sponge or any item in your arsenal of household cleaning utensils.  I'm afraid, like many of us, I have a tendency to let the replacement of these items go a little too long, but I finally took care of it.

I found this set on Amazon with a triple swivel hook that I thought would work perfectly for my kitchen.  The set includes a long bottle brush, a long straw brush, and a short detail brush.

This swivel hook worked particularly well for me since I do not have a lot of countertop space for a set of brushes that would be stored on the counter.  Oxo had a really cute set of brushes very similar to these in a countertop holder which I considered, but decided this would work better.

The holder comes with a Command™ style adhesive strip.  You simply remove the protective covering and then place the adhesive side of the holder on a clean surface.  Hold it in place for approximately 30 seconds with your thumb and then let it adhere to the new surface overnight.  The instructions on any Command™ strip will not suggest letting it adhere overnight.  That is my rule.  Believe me, if you can let it set overnight without putting any weigh to it, you will be better served with a good, sturdy adhesion.

I placed the hook on the back of one of the two cabinet doors underneath the sink.  That gives me the quickest and easiest access to the brushes when I am at the sink washing dishes and keeps them out of sight when not in use.

The short detail cleaning brush resides on the left side of the holder.  This brush is perfect for cleaning the blades on my smoothie maker.  Also good for cleaning the area with the threads where I screw the blade assembly onto the container holding the smoothie ingredients.  The bristles get in the threads and clean that area thoroughly, much more so than a sponge would do.

The right side holds the long straw brush.  Now, I'm going to be honest with you.  I'm not in the habit of cleaning plastic straws after each use and then putting them away to be used again in the future.  Plastic straws are going out of favor these days and being replaced with paper or stainless steel.  I cannot stand the feel of a paper straw on my lips or in my mouth.  It is like nails on a chalkboard for me.  It sends chills up my back.  So I will never have paper straws in my house and even if I did, you cannot clean a paper straw for another use.  This brush will work for cleaning stainless steel straws, which are meant to be used over and over. I've tried them and they aren't bad.

This is the perfect set of bottle brushes for me and I think they would work well in your kitchen also.  If you are interested in purchasing a set of these brushes, click here for a link that will take you directly to the page on Amazon where you can purchase your own set.  A steal at just $8.24 for the entire set!!
