Refrigerator Organization - Professional Towels - A New Trash Receptacle

We have a few things to cover today, so let's get right to it.

First up - egg containment.  If you have not already figured this out, I am not one to buy a dozen eggs and then store them in the carton from the store.  It's just not my style.  I want them in a container that is designed for just such a purpose and neatly stored in the refrigerator until it is time to use them.  That is why I bought this clear egg container with a lid.

The refrigerator in the apartment is small.  Much smaller than the refrigerator at Crest Avenue.  It is a standard issue refrigerator with a frost-free freezer on top and refrigerated section on the bottom.  So I am going to have to well utilize every inch of space available in both the refrigerated and freezer compartments.  Stacking refrigerator/freezer organizers will be the tools with which I will accomplish this task.

I purchased this lidded egg container quite on a whim.  I thought it would work and, indeed, I could not have chosen a more perfect sized container for this spot in the door of the refrigerator.  This shelf is right under the butter keeper.  (We'll talk more about the butter keeper next week.  I need to run to the Amazon Locker at Whole Foods today to pick up an item I purchased for the butter keeper).

You will notice in the picture above that this egg container holds fourteen eggs rather than your standard dozen.  I had never seen an egg container with space for fourteen eggs, but I thought that was a good idea.  Many times I have ended up with more than a dozen eggs which meant the holder was full and the additional eggs were relegated to a bowl on a shelf.  I love this container and I think you will also like it.
Next up, kitchen towels.

How fantastic it was to find these professional cooking series kitchen towels.  Not only are they heavy duty and heat resistant, but they are a very generous 20" x 30" in size.
You can see here that, when completely unfolded, one towel fills up the kitchen sink.
These are nice, large, even oversized, kitchen towels, which are nice to have when you are cooking.  Because these are so large, I only bought one set of two towels.  Space is at a premium in the kitchen, so two towels worked for storage issues.  Also, they are so large that I am certain I can get through almost any dish preparation or even preparation for a small dinner party with just the two of them.

When folded, they fit perfectly in this drawer beside the sink.  The kitchen in the apartment is a galley kitchen.  A small galley kitchen, which I actually prefer.  Everything is right there; the sink, the stove, the refrigerator; everything is right where you need it to be.  Very efficient use of space.  I cannot wait to prepare my first dish in this kitchen.

If you are interested in purchasing these large kitchen towels for yourself, they are from a company called Madisonhome.  I could not find an actual website for them, but their products are available at Target, Kohl's, HomeGoods and Amazon.

Finally, a new trash receptacle in the bathroom.

I actually bought two of these - one for this spot next to the commode and another for under the vanity.  This one works perfectly here.  The space is very narrow and this can is narrow, so it fit perfectly and it looks good.  While a standard round receptacle might "fit" in this area, I do not think it would look good here.

This one under the vanity simply will not do.  It is completely lost in the space and it will not work with what I have planned for this area.  I will likely move this one to bedside.

Another day, another project crossed off the list.  Of course, here we are at the Friday before Christmas Tuesday.  I will have to switch gears and start getting ready for the trip down south.  No Christmas decoration this year.  I nothing to decorate!  No tables.  No tree.  Nothing.  Next year we will be back with plenty of Christmas decorating ideas and recipes to share.
