The Tree(s) are Coming Down Next Week

We have a date for the tree removal.  One week from today, Thursday, August 18.  I sent the signed contract by email yesterday and then called to speak with a scheduler to set up the date.

The decision to have a tree removed is never an easy one.  If you find that a tree is in decline and there is a way to save it, you will always prefer saving it over having it removed.  But in this case, removal was the only option since the disease started at the very base of the tree trunk and was quite extensive by the time I made the discovery.  The culprit? We suspect some variation of  a Wood Boring Beetle.  These pests are found in hot and humid environments with lots of moisture.  That most accurately describes the location of these trees.  During periods of heavy rain, it gets quite soggy in the area they inhabit.

We will certainly miss the beautiful leaf canopy they have provided over the years, but there was no way to save them.  I hope to have lots of pictures to share with you next week of the removal process.
