A New Vase for Floral Arrangements

For many years I have used the same cut glass vase for long stemmed arrangements in the house, as you see below.

This picture is from a recent post with beautiful Casablanca Lilies.  I have had this vase for many years and I like the style, but sometimes you want to change things up a little.

I wanted a ceramic vase to add to my collection.  Sometimes I do not want to see the stems in water.  I just want to see the flowers.  This vase was a perfect size for the apartment.  It is actually very close in size to the cut glass vase you are used to seeing in my posts.  It is just of a different material and a different shape.

Here is a picture of the product tag with the name of the designer.  Debi Lilly is an award winning event planning and design firm.  I bought this vase in the floral department at Safeway.  If you are interested in purchasing beautifully designed floral arrangements through Safeway from Debi Lilly, click here.

As we have discussed in previous posts, you always want to trim the ends of the stems on fresh cut flowers when you bring them home before placing them in fresh water.

I like to trim the bottoms of the stems so that the flowers sit just above the rim of the vase.  I leave a little of the stems showing so that when I change the water and trim them again, the flowers still sit above the top of the vase.  I have given you a side view here which was taken straight on the vase.  Nobody is going to see the arrangement like this.

Here is the view of the arrangement from normal height as you will view it as you move through the house and as your guests will see them.

I do not usually buy multi-colored arrangements, preferring to stay with one uniform color throughout.  But on this particular day, I decided to step outside of my normal boundaries and try this very colorful arrangement in my new vase.  I thought these worked particularly well under this Thomas McKnight print.  The print is rather washed out in this picture because of the sunlight coming through the windows, but this really was a good look.

Remember Debi Lilly for a great selection of vases and also for beautifully arranged flowers.
