While in the garden center recently, I found a display which contained some cute solar lighting for the garden. The lights were incredibly affordable, so I picked up two of them to add a little lighting to the asparagus ferns in the planters at the entrance. Take a look.
Here are the two solar stake lights I found in the garden center. I like the textured finish on these lights.
They have very long, plastic stakes which are concealed inside the metal tubing. What an ingenious way to ship them.
The stakes reversed, we were ready to place these in the asparagus fern planters.
In this planter, the fern had enough height to conceal most of the stake, allowing the solar panel to absorb the sun's rays.
The other fern on the opposite side was a little shorter, so the head was a little more exposed. But it did not matter. As this fern fills in the light will become less obvious.
In the evening, they are so beautiful.
They cast just a little light. Just enough to add a little charm to your entrance. These are inexpensive lights that will likely last a couple seasons and then that will be it. So I would not invest heavily in these as a way to add permanent landscape lighting in your yard. For that you will need lights which are considerably more heavy duty and you will need the assistance of an electrician. But for a little spot of lighting in planted pots, these are a great value and add a nice pop of light in the evening!!
