Picking up Orders from Amazon Locker

Have you ever done this?  I had not.  I just discovered this wonderful new way to have merchandise ordered through Amazon sent to a local Amazon locker.  When the package is delivered to the locker, you receive a notice with a code and a barcode.  At your convenience, you simply drive or walk or use whatever mode of transportation you like to arrive at the locker.  Once there you scan your barcode, or enter a code manually on the screen, whichever is easier for you.  Here is a pictorial of how is works.

So, the closest Amazon Locker to me is located at a 7-11 convenience store.  I could walk there.  That is how close it is.  It is just this big, yellow set of lockers that reminds one of school lockers.  Well, school lockers with a touch screen.  You can see the screen in this picture and just below is the barcode scanner.

You simply touch the screen to get started.  If you want to enter the six digit code sent by Amazon, then you do so on this screen.  If not, just scan the code on the confirmation sheet you print or pull up the email with the barcode on your phone and scan it.

Once the code has been recognized, this message pops up on the screen instructing you to collect your package.

At the same time the above message appears, the door opens where you package has been left.  It just opens.  Automatically.  You do not have to search to see which compartment has your package,  The door releases and swings open.  And there is your box.

And yours truly caught in the reflection of the screen taking a picture to post here.

You retrieve the box and close the door and you get a message saying "Thank you for using Amazon Locker."  This is the coolest thing.

I am a HUGE fan of Amazon.  I shop there quite frequently.  They have excellent prices on nearly every item they sell.  And shipping is incredibly fast and most times it is free.  One day I think there will just be Amazon and we will all buy everything from Amazon.  Anyway, if you like to shop at Amazon.com, check it out and see if there is a pickup locker near you.
