The Christmas Cactus that was Part of Another Christmas Cactus

Today's post will likely be the shortest post in the history of AHWJN.  It is a picture of our blooming "Christmas Cactus".

Schlumbergera bridgessii

No matter how this may look in the picture, it is a small specimen that was a replant from a much larger plant.  I have had this for a couple years and this is the first year it has bloomed.  Beautiful as always.  I love these plants.  They are incredibly easy to care for.  They like humidity and you can add that by placing the pot into a saucer filled with pebbles and water.  This plant sits in a north facing window, so it never gets direct sunlight, which can burn the leaves.  Plenty of daylight but not direct sunlight for these plants.  Water frequently but do not let it sit in water lest you will bring on stem and root rot.  Other than that, just leave it be.

We have had about a week of conversation about live plants that bring beauty to your indoor spaces during the Christmas season.  If you have not thought of decorating with and around live Christmas blooming plants, I hope you will consider it in years to come.  They add so much charm and warmth to your home.
