Our Stay at The Watergate Hotel

We recently attended an event at the famed Watergate Hotel in Washington, DC.  It was a short stay but I thought I would share some pictures with you.

I love this lighted feature at the entrance to the hotel.

You get a better feel for how it looks in the grand scheme in this picture.  The entrance to the hotel is rather hidden.  That is, it is not right on Virginia Avenue.  The driveway entrance is from the service road on Virginia Avenue but it very minimalist.  Just a drive with a black canopy.  If you didn't know it was the entrance to the hotel, you could very well miss it.  It is only once you enter the drive and make your way around to the entrance that you are met with this.  Very lovely.  Very well planned.  And the real beauty of this picture, which I did not catch until I uploaded it here is, that is Baxter in the lower right hand corner making his way to the front door.  I just love that and it happened quite by accident.

Looking east away from the river, this shot is of the residence at the Watergate.  There is office space on the other side of these condominiums.  A little research reveals the price ranges for an apartment here.  A "spacious studio" starts at $319,424.  A three bed, three bath unit at $1,375,000.  Even after all these years, this is still primo real estate in the city.

Looking west from our room, we have the Rock Creek Parkway near the bottom of this picture, the Potomac River with the Key Bridge in the far distance.  To the right of the bridge is Georgetown and to the left is Rossyln, in Arlington County, VA.

If you are planning a trip to Washington and you are looking for luxury accommodations, I would strongly urge you to consider The Watergate.  Competition in this capital city is rather fierce.  We have some top-tier hotels to include The Mandarin Oriental, The Conrad, Trump International, just to name a few.  They all want to be considered the very best, and, indeed, they all are five star.  The Watergate stands out for me because of their impeccable service but also their location on the Potomac River right next to the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
