We are Awash in Favor Boxes

We have been working since Sunday on getting the favor boxes embossed, assembled and filled for the wedding this weekend.  There have been a few problems along the way, which is not uncommon when working on a project like this.  The first issue was black crinkle-cut to fill each box.  We ran out!  That was an oversight on my part.  On Sunday we went shopping for black crinkle-cut, but unfortunately, we were not able to find any.  I jumped online and found some at Amazon.com and placed an order for two pounds and it was delivered yesterday.  Thank God for Amazon. com.  I don't know how we ever lived without it!  Next issue was the organza bags for the Jordan almonds.  I knew I did not have enough bags for this wedding, so early last week I ordered four bags of thirty organza bags each, for a total of 120 bags.  When the envelope with the bags arrived last Friday I noticed the seal on the bag had come undone during shipping.  When I reached inside, there was only one bag of organza bags. A quick call to the supplier and the shipped another three bags on Saturday which will be here tomorrow.  Planning ahead is key.  Whenever you are providing a service like this, you must plan ahead because something will always go wrong and you must have allowed yourself enough time to fix the issue and get the product to your client on-time and in perfect condition.  They don't want to hear excuses.  They want the product you sold to them.  And they want it on-time.  And they want it in pristine condition.

So here are the black boxes filled with white crinkle cut.  Each of these boxes will receive a bag of 5 almonds, three white and two black.  The white boxes will receive a bag of 5 almonds, three black and two white.

Another view of the same black boxes with the toasting champagne glasses embossed on the box top in silver.  The glasses are upside down in this picture.  But once we fold the flap on each box and close the top, the glasses will be right side up.  This picture doesn't really portray how truly beautiful these are.  The silver embossing against the high gloss black is extraordinary.

After the bag of almonds is placed in each box, we insert one of these little squares which gives the date of the wedding.  These are printed on white card stock and then the strips are cut out, by hand.

We were diligent and stayed with it until we eventually had 150 of these little memento cards ready to be placed in each box.

A pile of shreds of card stock which were the remnants after we cut out each individual card.  Careful attention to detail was paramount in this project.  We wanted all of the cards to be uniform in size.

And that was precisely what we ended up with.  These are really very cute.

Tonight we will work on preparing the tray which will be used to present the boxes for the guests to take as they leave the reception.  I want to do the tray in a "checkerboard" style.  That is black box, white box, black box, white box, ... and on and on like that until the tray is filled with a black and white checkerboard of little favor boxes.  They will be done in a pyramidal style.  You will see more about that later in the week.
