A Beautiful New Orchid

I recently received this beautiful Phalaenopsis Aphrodite Orchid from two very special friends.  It is quite a specimen.  I just had to share it with you today.

Photographing an orchid should always be done with a blank background.  That is really the only way to highlight all the intricacies of the blooms.

Phalaenopsis is one of the most popular orchids in the market today.  And it is clear to see why.  They are extraordinarily beautiful.

Phalaenopsis generally require high humidity and low light.  However, they can adapt to the lower humidity found in most homes.  They are typically hardier than other species and this makes them a popular favorite.

Now, to the care of this most spectacular plant.  It came with this little plastic cup attached to the support rod.  This was a brilliant idea because most of us do not care for orchids correctly and they die.  At least, that has been my experience.  So with this cup, water once per week with warm water. Plain.  Simple.  Straightforward.

And this card with additional information about caring for orchids.  Medium to low sunlight.  Water once per week.  Temperature range.  And for potting and re-blooming advice, a website to visit.

If you are so inclined to try one of these orchids in your home after reading this post, I strongly encourage you to do so.  Clear here to be taken to the BloomIQ.com website.
