While I was in Martinsville last week, we had lunch at the most wonderful restaurant called Los Reyes (that is "the Kings" in English). And I would say that the restaurant was aptly named because lunch was divine.
The restaurant is located at 72 E. Morgan Street in Martinsville. You can eat in or carry out. But if you can, you should definitely eat in. The dining room is quite extraordinary with all the brilliant colors and artwork of Mexico.
At the entrance is this beautiful sculpture in the round. I do not know the significance of this, but it is quite striking as you enter.
Along the walls are the usual booths or "banquettes" that are familiar in most restaurants. We opted for a nice roomy booth in the rear of the dining room since we are all "booth" people. Whenever possible, I opt for a booth when eating out. Sitting at a table in the middle of the room is not my idea of a fun dining experience.
More paintings and carvings along the walls as we ventured further through the dining room to our booth. And check out the light fixture over this table. Don't you love that. Very fanciful.
Finally a shot from our booth looking forward to the entrance. This is a very cozy and comfortable restaurant. It has a very relaxed feel. You might think the bright colors would be distracting. Not so. The lighting is perfect. I notice things like that. We had a super good time here. The place filled up while we were there and then emptied before we left. Ours was a leisurely lunch in which I enjoyed the Enchilada Supreme plate, ... and two Bloody Mary's. Delicious, spicy and wonderful Bloody Mary's. Ralph had the Speedy Gonzalez plate which was one taco and one enchilada topped with enchilada sauce and served with refried beans or rice. Cindy had the shrimp fajitas, which looked spectacular. If you should find yourself in Martinsville, Indiana, you should definitely plan on having a meal at Los Reyes while visiting there. Click here for a link to there website.
