The Siding Job Continues

Well, we have the first layer of insulation!  We are making progress.

The guys showed up yesterday and applied this spray foam insulation over the entire back side of the house.

This side.

And the opposite side.  I angled this picture so you could see the siding that was installed last year on the front.  Beautiful new cedar shakes.  The exterior of the second floor was originally wood siding when the house was built in 1947.  Then, at some point over the years, the wood was covered over with aluminum siding.  Probably in the seventies.  Aluminum siding was all the rage back then.  My parents had it installed on our house.  Now, all of that is gone and we are mere days away from new cedar siding on the back side of the house.

For those in the Washington, DC/Maryland/Virginia area, if you are planning some upgrades around your house, American Home Contractors is the company to hire.  We have been very pleased.

The dumpster is filling up a little more everyday.  But there is still more to come.  When they are done installing the new cedar siding, they will be removing the old roof and installing a new one.  So we will have a very full dumpster once this project is done.  The town allows dumpsters for construction purposes.  You may have it delivered to your driveway for 30 days or in the street for 9 days.  We opted for the street, so they will have to work very efficiently.  And they are.
