We met our friends Mac and Greg for brunch on Sunday. Mac suggested Annie's. We had not been there in a long time, so we agreed that would be the perfect place to meet. They wanted to get together before they move down to their house in Heathsville, VA for the summer. So we met and had a wonderful time. Here are a few pictures.
Annie's, as it is referred to locally, was established in 1948 as shown above. I tried to find some additional history online but I could not find anything. Suffice it to say, it has been around for a long time and that is a testament to their good food and excellent service. Our waitress on Sunday was wonderful. I had the Crab Imperial Omelet with homefries and fresh fruit. Positively delicious. Mac had the same. Steven had french toast with eggs, over easy, and Greg had the Bull in a Pan, which is marinated sirloin tips and roasted bell peppers. I have had that and it is quite delicious. An excellent choice Greg.
There has definitely been a renovation since we were last there. It is very chic now. It used to be a little creaky and "well worn" we'll say. It is very modern now and I like the new look.
As we were leaving, across the street from Annie's, were these colorful rainbow banners at another eating establishment along 17th Street. You can see patrons sitting out front enjoying their brunch and possibly a mimosa or bloody mary. We assumed these banners were still up from the Pride Festival the previous weekend. They could leave those up all year. They kind of liven up the neighborhood.
Finally, as we were leaving, a selfie. The Four Musketeers back together again after being apart for so many years. That is a long story and better left to another writing. We are so glad to have gotten back in touch and we look forward to many more meetings like this with two of our very favorite people.
Yes, those are my legs in the reflection in the window. I guess all that time on the treadmill is paying off! |
