You will remember last week we added finely chopped onion to the Philadelphia Chive and Onion Cream Cheese spread. Needless to say, that is all gone. It was fantastic! We will definitely do that again. On our errand run this past weekend, we picked up some additional flavors of cream cheese - jalapeno, garden vegetable and a large container of plain. The jalapeno and garden vegetable are currently standing on their own. But I decided to add chopped celery to the plain.
This is about a half-cup of chopped celery into a 16 oz. container of plain cream cheese. Mix it together with a large spoon using an "under and over" method with your spoon so that it is all fully incorporated. I picked up several freshly made bagels from the bakery at Safeway this weekend. This celery and cream cheese combo is especially good on a jalapeno and cheese bagel. I had one half of a jalapeno and cheese bagel, toasted, with the plain and celery combo and it was spectacular. It stands to reason that it would be good because we fill celery with cream cheese and put it out as a party snack. It's the same combination here, only done a little differently.
Back to the jalapeno and garden vegetable containers; I have some sun-dried tomatoes that I think would make a good addition to the garden vegetable blend. We'll try that later this week and see what we think.
